Our Mission

First Methodist Day School is a weekday mission of the First Methodist Church in Marshall,      Texas. We strive to meet the needs of young children and families by providing a safe, nurturing, Christian environment through an educational program that addresses all areas of development (intellectual, social, physical, emotional, and spiritual). FMDS was founded in 1933 in the home of Alice Womack Chatham. Alice’s Wonderland started with one kindergarten      class, and in 1947 the school relocated to the church. This was one of the first schools in Marshall to specialize in Pre-Kindergarten education. Since then, FMDS has continued to add opportunities for children to safely learn and grow in a Christian environment. The school now has nine classes of students ranging from eighteen months of age through five years old.      FMDS continues to strive to make early childhood development both educational and fun!

Here at FMDS we offer Pre-K education for children ages 18 months through 5 years of age during the school year (August-May). We follow the MISD school calendar for all holidays and breaks. We also offer a summer program for children ages 18 months through fourth grade. Our summer program lasts for nine to ten weeks depending on the summer start and end date set by MISD’s school calendar. 

We are open from 7:00 AM until 5:30 PM Monday through Friday both in the school year and summer. We offer tuition plan options based on 5-day plans or 3-day plans. You may choose to enroll your child in our full day program (8:15-5:30) or our half day program (8:15-12:00) with either a five or three day plan. We have Early Bird drop off options for working parents that is open from 7:00-8:15 AM. For information on pricing for specific ages and plans, please contact the school.
